Sephora Beauty Insider Birthday Gift: Tarte Makeup Set (VIDEO)

Sephora’s Beauty Insider rewards program is free to join and comes with the awesome perk of receiving a beauty gift during your birthday month. This year, members got to choose between a skincare set by Caudalie and a makeup set by Tarte (there is also a men’s skincare kit, only available online)

I was excited to try out the Tarte makeup kit this year, which includes their 12-hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty and their Tarteist Lip Paint in Birthday Suit.

Check out my video review and demo of these two products!

Review + Demo: Philosophy Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel

Philosophy may be in a contest with themselves to have the longest product names ever (Purity Made Simple Facial Cleansing Gel & Eye Makeup Remover, Renewed Hope in a Jar Overnight Recharging & Refining Moisturizer, etc, etc). Combined with their package design that incorporates usage instructions and inspirational sayings, there’s just a lot of reading involved when it comes to this brand.

But I digress.

The product I will be reviewing today is the Philosophy Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel. From doing a little research it looks like this is relatively new product, having launched just about a year ago. Continue reading “Review + Demo: Philosophy Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel”

Sample Sunday: Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream

Just a quick post to share about a product I’ve been trying out for the past week. It is the Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream and it is ahhhmazing.

The product is a colorless cream that applies smoothly over skin and is thick enough to stay in place for day or night. It has a slight scent that resembles the Rose Face Mask made by Fresh (I say “resemble” because I was convinced it was the “rose” smell, only to find that rose is not listed under the ingredients of this eye cream).  Continue reading “Sample Sunday: Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream”

Buxom “License to Chill” $10 Beauty Set

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! Hope you all had a great weekend of eating, drinking, being merry, and maybe even doing some shopping.

Regardless of your opinion about our subsequent “holiday” Black Friday, you have to admit that there are some pretty amazing deals to be found, especially for things that never go on sale–like beauty products. Over the weekend I saw markdowns from many major brands (Benefit and Giorgio Armani, to name a couple). However, what I was really looking forward to was snagging some great gift sets from Sephora.

Sephora carries gift sets year round for everything ranging from makeup to skincare to fragrance. These are a great way to save money on the cost of buying all the items individually, but they can still be expensive, many costing over $100. During the holidays, Sephora releases a large variety of gift sets for the $10-$25 range. These usually contain 2-4 items, typically mini versions of retail products.

Last year I picked up a bunch of these sets, both to gift to friends and co-workers, and also for myself to try out new products. The products ranged from things like Tocca fragrances to LivingProof hair products to Smashbox primers. Unfortunately, year after year more and more of the items are in the $15-$25 range. Alas, what is a bargain hunter to do?

Luckily, I was able to score a couple $10 sets this weekend, and I wanted to share one of them with you: the Buxom “License to Chill” 3-piece eye and lip collection.

Sample Sunday: First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

Happy Sunday! Today I am trying out a sample of this facial cleanser I received at my last visit to Sephora. First Aid Beauty is a brand I’d heard a lot from friends, but I’ve never tried any of their products before. The product comes in 1oz-8oz containers priced at $5.50-$30 each.
