The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is meant to be treated like a marathon, not a sprint. If you try to race through it like Black Friday, chances are you’ll end up tired, dehydrated, crampy, and cranky.
That said, I wanted to shared what I’ve bought so far as a means to help you focus in on the good stuff if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the literally thousands of items that are in this sale. I did my shopping in a couple rounds, online first, then in person with my mom in tow. I’ll definitely be able to comment much more on the stuff I saw in store, but I’ll try to be as comprehensive as I can.
The annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is like Christmas in July. Great deals on brand new merchandise for the upcoming fall season? No wonder it’s become one of the most epic sales around.
The catalog for this year’s sale is out, giving us a preview of a selection of products that will be part of the sale. I’ve gone through and pulled out some of my top picks to share with you and show you just why I’m so excited for this sale…which starts in less than a week for cardholders!
Sometimes I feel like I could’ve lived in Victorian times because of how much I love a good puffed sleeve. I’m like Anne of Green Gables in that way.
Sephora’s Beauty Insider rewards program is free to join and comes with the awesome perk of receiving a beauty gift during your birthday month. This year, members got to choose between a skincare set by Caudalie and a makeup set by Tarte (there is also a men’s skincare kit, only available online)
As we get to the home stretch of this review spree, we also arrive at the home stretch of this week. Weekends in medical school are less like weekends and more like cram sessions for Monday exams. However, I like to allow myself some TLC on Friday nights before diving headfirst into the books. Continue reading “Influenster Review Spree #6”→
One of the products I was most excited about trying from my complimentary Influenster Poppy Voxbox was the Nyakio Kenyan Coffee Face Polish. Newcomer Nyakio (pronounced Neh-KAY-oh, as is cleverly incorporated into the logo) is the brainchild of Nyakio Kamoche Grieco, who draws inspiration from her Kenyan heritage to create her products. The line launched just this past March, and is exclusively available at Ulta.
I can honestly say I have never used a coffee bean scrub in my life, and at this point am excitedly thinking about homemade dupes — if this works, could i somehow replicate this with stuff found around the house? Continue reading “Influenster Review Spree #3”→
Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share with you the next item from my complimentary Influenster VoxBox, the Eva NYC Freshen Up Dry Shampoo. Eva NYC is a haircare brand started in Brooklyn in 2012. In addition to soaps and styling products, they sell a line of beautifully designed styling tools. I had actually heard of it only a couple months ago when I started seeing their products pop up in my local Costco store (that’s when you know you’ve made it to the big leagues!)
I have tried a fair amount of dry shampoos but always seem to run into the same problems:
White/chalky residue (especially annoying on my dark hair)
Doesn’t make hair less greasy (in other words, it doesn’t actually do what it’s supposed to do)
A couple weeks ago I was lucky to receive a complimentary box of samples from Influenster, a site that partners brands with consumers to try out and review their products. The samples can range from anything from cosmetics to household cleaning products to food. If you love trying new things and writing reviews, be sure to get signed up!
Throughout this week I will be doing a series of short reviews on the products I received from the Poppy Voxbox, a combination of skincare, makeup, and cleaning products. I had a lot of fun testing this stuff out this week and can’t wait for my next box!
When NARS first announced their Soft Matte Complete Concealer, I was initially only half excited: Excited for the “complete coverage” part, but not so jazzed about the “matte” part. My skin tends to lean on the drier side, so matte products usually make those pesky dry patches emerge out of their hiding place.
But, because I’m a sucker for NARS products, i decided to give this one a try anyway and headed to get some samples.
